William "Bill" Clay Wiley

William C. "Bill" Wiley, 74, of Fairmont, WV and Palm Harbor, FL, died Sunday evening, January 21, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. William Clay Wiley was born on July 21, 1943 in Fairmont, WV, the oldest child of the late James William Wiley and Juanita Mae Wiley.
He went to school at East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College. In addition to his service to our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, Bill served others through the insurance industry and later in life as a coal miner at Federal 2 Mine at Miracle Run. On January 2, 1964, he married the love of his life, Karen Sue Vandergrift, in Fairmont. Together they had 3 children.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, serving as a deacon at Oakwood Road Church of Christ in Fairmont, WV and as an elder at Palm Harbor Church of Christ in Palm Harbor, FL. Bill's special interests and hobbies included camping, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years; a sister, Beverly (Chuck) Villers and a brother, Robert (Elizabeth) Wiley, all of Fairmont; children, Belinda Kay (Bill) Husty of Milton, FL, William Clay (Amber) Wiley Jr. of Fairmont, WV, and Brenna Sue (John) Board of Elizabethtown, KY; 6 grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Husty and William Charles (Heather) Husty III, of Milton, FL, Adrielle Kayleigh Board and Emaleigh Sue Board, of Elizabethtown, KY, and William Alexander Wiley and Warren Gene Wiley, of Fairmont, WV; 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden Charles Husty, Landon Craig Sanders, and Claire Husty; and several nieces and nephews.
The Wiley family would like to extend gratitude to all who shared Bill's life, as well as the many kind caregivers with WV Caring Hospice, the Veterans Affairs, and the Marion County Senior Center, who helped care for him along with his devoted wife.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Oakwood Road Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the church with his son-in-law, John F. Board, minister of the Church of Christ in Elizabethtown, KY and Brent Gallagher, minister of Oakwood Road Church of Christ, officiating.
