Donald L. Starn, 79, of Bowden, formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. He was born in Marion County on November 10, 1938, a son of the late Woodrow R. and Anna K. (Frederick) Starn.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. He then worked for over 30 years at Philips Lighting Plant.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed music and played several instruments.
He is survived by his son Richard Starn of Fairmont; his daughter Karla Starn of Fairmont; one sister Judy McNair; four brothers Jack Starn and his wife Mary of Rivesville, William Starn and his wife Karen of Indiana, Robert Starn and his wife Merrilyn of Catawba, and Gary Starn of Catawba; three grandchildren Charleana Yohe, Megan Wilson and Kelsey Wilson; three great grandchildren Abigail Yohe, Kyleigh Yohe, and Wyatt Yohe; his loving companion Ardith Turner of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers John Edward and Thomas "Tom" Starn.
Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Andrew Tennant officiating. Interment will be at Catawba Cemetery.
Full military rites will be performed by the Marion County Military Honor Guard at the cemetery.
